Troubleshooting

Fixes for the common things that go wrong with screens, content and access.

A screen shows a blank / fallback card#

Crubby shows a tidy fallback card (never a 404) in three cases: the screen link is wrong or the screen was deleted (*not connected*), the bound menu is paused or empty (*menu in pause*), or a custom embedded site didn't load (*temporarily unreachable*). The card self-heals — it retries every ~20 seconds. Check that the TV is on the right URL and that the assigned board's menu is active.

A screen shows as offline#

The Fleet badge reads offline after ~5 minutes without a heartbeat. Causes: the TV isn't actually displaying the screen URL, it lost internet, or you're only looking at it through the in-app preview (which deliberately doesn't count as a real connection). A freshly-added screen shows offline until it connects for the first time.

I published but the TV didn't update#

Publishing pushes to screens in about a second over a realtime channel. If a screen misses it (e.g. a brief network blip), an hourly watchdog and the nightly reload will catch it. To force it now, use Aggiorna tutte le TV (Refresh all TVs) on the Fleet header.

A board shows old prices#

Editing a price in Manager updates a menu fingerprint that screens watch, so live boards refresh automatically — you don't need to re-publish the board. If a specific screen lags, refresh all TVs as above.

The picture is rotated wrong#

Set the screen's orientation (Landscape / Portrait / tilted) on its detail page in Fleet. If the board's shape doesn't match the new orientation, Crubby offers to duplicate it in the other format.

There's a watermark / I can't add a second screen#

Both are free-tier limits: free screens carry a *Made with Crubby* watermark and are forced to the Crubby theme, and you can run one screen and 10 products. Upgrading to Crubby Sync lifts these — see Plans & limits.

Everything is read-only#

Your subscription is likely expired or cancelled — the workspace becomes read-only (your screens keep playing). Update billing in Settings → Billing to restore editing. While in grace, you can still edit.

Note

Still stuck? See Getting help and include the screen's name from Fleet.
