Set up your first TV
From a blank screen to a live menu board playing on a real display — the exact steps.
Good to know
There is no pairing code. You create a screen in the dashboard, it gives you a web address, and you open that address in the TV's browser. The QR code shown is only to test the link on your phone — TVs don't have cameras.
1. Make sure you have a location#
A screen belongs to a location. If you have none yet, add one in Manager → Locations first — the Add screen button is disabled until a location exists.
2. Create the screen#
- 1
Open Display → Fleet and click Add screen
Give it a name and pick its location (both required).
- 2
Set the orientation
Landscape (16:9), Portrait, or a tilted-landscape mount. You can change this later.
- 3
Optionally add hardware details
TV size in inches, panel type, brand, model — these just make the fleet view render your screen accurately.
3. Open the link on the TV#
Creating the screen reveals its player URL — https://<your-site>/screen/<screen-slug> (a readable name plus a random suffix). Open that URL in the TV's own browser (smart TV, media stick, or a spare tablet). It connects and starts playing; from then on it updates itself.
Heads up
If you ever regenerate the link (on the screen's detail page), the URL changes and you must re-open the new one on the TV. Use it only if a link leaked.
4. Assign a board#
Go to Display → Boards, find the board you want, and use Assign to a screen on its row. Publish the board and the TV shows it within about a second. Don't have a board yet? See Build a menu board.
5. Confirm it's online#
Back in Fleet, the screen's status turns online once it has connected (the badge reflects a heartbeat within the last 5 minutes). If it stays offline, see Troubleshooting.
