Cost a dish (recipe → margin)

Link ingredients to a product so Crubby computes its food cost and margin automatically.

1. Build your ingredient library#

In Manager → Ingredients, add the ingredients you use with a cost per unit (and tag their allergens). Costs are the raw material for everything that follows.

2. Add a recipe to the product#

  1. 1

Open a product in Manager → Menu

Scroll to the recipe block in the editor.

  2. 2

Type @ to add an ingredient

Search by name, pick it, and set the quantity. Repeat for each ingredient.

  3. 3

    Watch the cost update live

A Cost € figure and a margin badge update as you edit — selling price minus recipe cost.

Tip

The product's description is derived from the recipe automatically. Its allergens are too — and you can additionally declare allergens by hand; the effective set is the union of both (see Allergens).

3. Review the whole menu#

Open Financials → Food cost for a spreadsheet of every product's margin, organised by category. The numbers match the per-product badge in the menu editor.
